The Neil Sachse Foundation was founded in 1995 by Neil Sachse, CEO following a sporting injury that left him a quadriplegic. During this time, the Neil Sachse Foundation has achieved a great deal. It has raised in excess of $2 million, which was directed into a research project at Flinders University. This research centred on nerve growth and nerve regrowth. Two research papers were published - one describing stimulating nerve fibres to grow past the site of the spinal cord injury and the second on a new method of identifying new nerve growth. This research is groundbreaking in the field of spinal cord injury research and has resulted in a treatment for spinal cord injury which encourages nerve fibres to grow past the site of the injury.
